Uber and Lyft Drivers Require Fingerprinting for Background Check

Updated: Feb 10

Uber and Lyft, prominent rideshare companies, revolutionize transportation with user-friendly mobile apps, connecting passengers with drivers for convenient and efficient travel. To become a driver, a Canadian Criminal Background Check is required, ensuring that those entrusted with passenger transportation meet high safety requirements.

Uber and Lyft Drivers Require Fingerprinting for Background Check

Why fingerprinting is required?

For safety, fingerprints are required to complete the application process with Uber and Lyft. These companies mandate background checks on their drivers to ensure that individuals responsible for passenger transportation meet strict safety standards, including:

  • Protecting Passengers and Customers: by screening drivers, Uber and Lyft aim to provide a secure environment for passengers and customers, reduce risk, and foster trust and reliability in their services.

  •  Reducing a Company's Liability Risk: thorough background checks help mitigate the risk of incidents during rides, safeguarding the companies' reputation and minimizing legal challenges.

  •  Satisfying Legal Requirements and Regulation: There are now specific rules and restrictions in many local areas; hence, conducting background checks helps demonstrate the companies' commitment to operating ethically and responsibly.

Therefore, the background check ensures passenger safety and trust, enhancing the driving experience, maintaining passenger confidence in their service and minimizing legal risks.

How it works?

When you’re with F1 FINGERPRINTING (FRONTIER ONE INC.), we will submit your fingerprints to the RCMP on your behalf. The RCMP will be responsible for conducting the background check and issuing PCC (Police Check Certificates). The PCC will be sent to your provided mailing address.

To get your fingerprints taken, you'll need two pieces of identification (such as your passport/PR card and driver's license). Before you leave, we will provide you with the instructions on how to contact the RCMP regarding your application's status.
