EMPLOYMENT FINGERPRINTING
Federal Employment (Federal/ Security Clearance/ Reliability Clearance)
A fingerprint-based personnel security clearance is required before an employee may access government information, assets or work sites. By providing a specific government department's ORI number, the RCMP will process your application and send your online result directly to that requesting department.
Results will not be provided in hard copy. Using the DCN (Document Control Number), your employer or requesting agency can access your result within 3 business days.
*Popular federal departments:
Public Services and Procurement Canada (PQ80800), Correctional Service of Canada (ON80305), National Research Council Canada (ON80277), Canada Border Services Agency (ON80425), Environment and Climate Change Canada (PQ80490), Natural Resources Canada(ON80278), Canada Post (ON80223), etc.

Required documents for an appointment:
Employer's letter/form containing an ORI number (sample below) + 2 valid pieces of government ID.
*ORI (Originating Agency Identifier) represents the requesting department. Your result will be accessed by the corresponding agency/department.

Provincial Employment
There are many provincial jobs that require RCMP fingerprint-based criminal record checks, such as: Metrolinx, Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO), Government of Alberta, etc.
Required documents for an appointment:
2 valid pieces of government ID + A letter, email or instructions from your employer requesting an RCMP fingerprint-based criminal record checks.
Private Employment
Many private sectors may require their employees/applicants to undergo fingerprint-based criminal record checks from the RCMP, including:

Real Estate Council of Alberta (RECA)

Immigration Consultant Licensing with CICC

Controlled Goods Program

Cannabis Act Clearance
-
Membership to professional organizations within Canada (nursing, health care, accountant, …etc.).

Any other private companies (Uber/Lyft, Purolator, etc.)

A Level 2 criminal record check, also known as the Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC), must be done at any local police station, especially for applicants applying for Real Estate Council of Ontario licensing. Your fingerprinting is only requested once the local police require a more in-depth background check.
Required documents for an appointment:
2 valid pieces of government ID + A request letter from your employer (if applicable).
Police Employment
This employment type is for individuals working as police officers or in civilian roles for police authorities. Depending on the request letter, the fingerprints will be captured and printed on a C216C fingerprinting card or submitted electronically to the RCMP for obtaining the criminal background check.
Required documents for an appointment:
2 valid pieces of government ID + A fingerprinting request letter (mandatory).
